GIRO’19 Final Stage 21: Ecuador’s First – Carapaz Wins the 2019 Giro!

Race Report: Richard Carapaz won the first Grand Tour of his career and the Movistar rider is the first Ecuadorian to win the Giro d'Italia. In the final 17 kilometre time trial to Verona, he rode the test of his life. Vincenzo Nibali took second and Primoz Roglic snatched third place from Mikel Landa with a strong ride. The stage victory surprisingly went to Sunweb's Chad Haga.

GIRO’19 Stage 20: Stage for Bilbao – Carapaz Safe for Final TT!

Race Report: Astana's Pello Bilbao won the last mountain stage of the 2019 Giro d’Italia. In the final kilometre, Bilbao turned out to have the strongest final sprint from a select group of classification riders and escapees. Overall leader, Richard Carapaz (Movistar) did not contest the sprint, but was only 4 seconds behind Bilbao and in the same time as Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida).

GIRO’19 Stage 19: Chaves is Back with a Win!

Race Report: After a terrible year, Esteban Chavez is back and he gave Mitchelton-Scott their first stage win in the 2019 Giro d’Italia. At the finish of stage 19 in San Martino di Castrozza he won from the early break. Andrea Vendrame had a bad luck on the final climb, but nevertheless finished second. Richard Carapaz kept the pink leader's jersey going into the final decisive days.

GIRO’19 Stage 18: Cima Surprises the Sprinters

Race Report: Stage 18 of the Giro d’Italia looked like it was going to be one for the sprinters, and it nearly was. Damiano Cima (Nippo-Vini Fantini-Faizane) managed to hold his day-long lead and stay out of the grip of the peloton. Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) won the sprint inches behind Cima, for second place, and took the points jersey back from Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ).

GIRO’19 Stage 17: Peters Pounces on his First Win

Race Report: AG2R-La Mondiale's Nans Peters took a fine first professional victory on stage 17 to Anterselva. The Frenchman went with the early break, and then on the run-up to the final climb, he took his leave of his compatriots to solo to the finish. The overall didn't change, although there was a late skirmish from overall leader, Movistar's Richard Carapaz.

GIRO’19 Stage 16: Big Day for Ciccone and Nibali on the Mortirolo

Race Report: No Gavia on stage 16 of the Giro d’Italia on Tuesday, but there was enough excitement. Vincenzo Nibali threw his cards on the table on the Mortirolo to blow the GC apart, but overall leader Richard Carapaz was still on his wheel. Primož Roglič and Simon Yates lost time. The stage victory went to KOM Giulio Ciccone, who beat Jan Hirt to the line.
