The experienced Dane of the Astana team was the strongest from the early break after a tough 145 kilometres of climbing. Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma), Miguel Ángel López (Astana) and Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) attacked the other favourites.
