GIRO’20 Stage 14: Gung Ho Ganna!

Philippo Ganna has taken another stage win in the 2020 Giro d'Italia. With a phenomenal ride over 34 hilly TT kilometres, the big Italian took 26 seconds out of his second placed teammate, Rohan Dennis. João Almeida took time out of the others, except young American, Brandon McNulty, who moved up to fourth place and 3rd on the stage.

Top Ride: Finding FLANDERS

It’s 1:30 AM, Belgium time, we just got the power restored after I plugged one too many cords into the hotel’s electrical outlets. BAM! Hotel blackout... courtesy of PEZ. But what a day it’s been – we rode on the Flanders’ route, and it was “TOP RIDE” material for sure. Here are the pics…

PEZ Rides Prosecco’s STEEPEST MURO

GIRO TT PREVIEW VIDEO: I discovered riding in Italy's prosecco region in the Veneto as part of the Prosecco Cycling gran fondo.  Vineyards, lush rolling hills, and a 19% climb will also feature as the major obstacle in the 2020 Giro d'Italia's stage 14 time trial from Conegliano to Valdobbadiene.  Luckily I had the GoPro rolling for some stunning on-bike video of the climb, the ride, and the prosecco & scampi rest stop.

GIRO’20 Stage 13: Ulissi Out-Sprints Almeida in Pink!

The flat stage 13 to Monselice had a sting in the tail, actually a double sting. In the end it was the GC men who fought out the sprint aster a strong ride from the Deceuninck - Quick-Step team to split the race. At the line it was Diego Ulissi who won from the pink jersey, Joāo Almeida, and Patrick Konrad in third.

GIRO’20 Stage 12: Wet Win for Narváez!

A crazy day on the home roads of Marco Pantani, saw many riders suffer from the cold and wet conditions that split the race to pieces. The stage victory went to Jhonatan Narváez ahead of an unlucky Mark Padun. The pink jersey of João Almeida was safe after strong work from the Deceuninck - Quick-Step team.

Top Ride: The Carpegna – Pantani’s Training Climb

The 2020 Giro d'Italia Stage 12 runs a long 205km circuit from Cesenatico  - Marco Pantani's home town.  The route is lumpy all day - with 5 categorized climbs.  Although Il Pirata's favorite climb - the Carpegna is not on this year's route, I rode it myself and it's a must do for any cycling trip to the region.  Here's what it's like...

EUROTRASH News Round Up Thursday!

Oct 15, 2020 - The Giro d'Italia rumbles on under the threat of Covid-19, but great racing. We have results and video from Italy and the Scheldeprijs. Boonen talks about the Van Aert/Van der Poel conflict-TOP STORY. Bad news form the Giro, but good news form Flanders. Elegant – Quick-Step for de Ronde, no fans on the Vuelta mountains, Pauwels retires, Jakobsen bone transplant, Gazprom sponsorship and no La Vuelta Junior.
