Vuelta Stage Report: The third stage of the 2019 Vuelta a España was won by Sam Bennett. The Irish champion of Bora-Hansgrohe was the best in the mass sprint after a "Spanish flat" stage of 188 kilometres from Ibi to Alicante. Edward Theuns (Trek-Segafredo) and Luka Mezgec (Mitchelton-Scott) were second and third. Nico Roche (Sunweb) held his overall lead for an Irish double.
Vuelta Stage Report: The first road stage of the 2019 Vuelta a España was surprisingly won by Movistar's Nairo Quintana. The Colombian climber managed to ride away from an elite group in the finale, and then to solo into the finish in Calpe.
