GIRO’19 Stage 20: Stage for Bilbao – Carapaz Safe for Final TT!

Race Report: Astana's Pello Bilbao won the last mountain stage of the 2019 Giro d’Italia. In the final kilometre, Bilbao turned out to have the strongest final sprint from a select group of classification riders and escapees. Overall leader, Richard Carapaz (Movistar) did not contest the sprint, but was only 4 seconds behind Bilbao and in the same time as Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida).

GIRO’19 Stage 7: Bilbao Bursts Over the Line in L’Aquila

Race Report: Another new Giro d'Italia stage winner on the seventh day, this time from Spain. Astana's Pello Bilbao took the win in L’Aquila with a solo attack from a leading group with just over one final hard kilometre to go. The Basque rider finished ahead of Tony Gallopin (AG2R-La Mondiale) and Davide Formolo (Bora-Hansgrohe). Valerio Conti (UAE Team Emirates) held the pink jersey.

Dauphiné’18 Stage 6: Bilbao Tops, Thomas Confirms!

PeloPics: Pello Bilbao of Astana was the last survivor of the breakaway and fended off the GC contenders to win stage 6 of the Critérium du Dauphiné. Geraint Thomas (Sky) extended his overall lead while Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) and Romain Bardet (AG2R-La Mondiale) moved up to the top 3 overall.
