What's Cool In Road Cycling

Van Der Poel Again!

Another race, another win for Mathieu van der Poel. On Saturday the young Dutchman beat Toon Aerts (Bel) and Corne Van Kessel (Ned) in the Grote Prijs van Brabant with his usual domination. Sunday's Telenet Superprestige in Ruddervoorde should be a bit harder as World champion, Wout Van Aert (Bel) will be back in action.

Weekend Mud!

The road season has come to an end with the Tour of Guangxi and the UCI Cycling Gala presentation. We can now concentrate on the muddy (although dry at the moment) weekend cyclo-cross warriors.

Tom Boonen may have retired but he's not gone. The Belgian multi-champion was on TV last week presenting a new book by Merijn Casteleyn 'Jaren van Bewondering' - 'Years of Admiration'. Here Boonen is with author Casteleyn and Johan Meseeuw.

L’Alpe d’Huez Dutch Corner

Guangxi Coastal View!

Maybe Guangxi is the next place to visit, the coast road to Liuzhou looks like it could be the French Riviera or Italy. Maybe not. Will the Tour of Guangxi return to the WorldTour? It made a nice end of season race.

Alberto In japan!

A look back at Alberto Contador's last race, a very wet criterium in Japan the day before the Japan Cup road race. His Trek-Segafredo team were in control, but the win went to NIPPO-Vini Fantini's Marco Canola.

End Of The Season!

The Tour of Guangxi is the last race of the WorldTour season and Tim Wellens and the Lotto Soudal team said goodbye in the best possible way... by winning. Looks like the Chinese took a leaf out of the Vuelta a España book and built a new road for the race.

Four For Gaviria!

Probably the fastest man in the sprints at the moment, Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors) took his fourth stage win at the Tour of Guangxi on Tuesday.
