After having a few days to ponder Sepp Kuss's incredible ride to get a highly unexpected overall Vuelta a España victory, Spencer Martin breaks down how and where he won the race over his teammates/rivals Vingegaard and Roglič, as well as UAE’s Ayuso, and attempt to predict how this win will affect the future of the Jumbo-Visma team.

This year's Vuelta a España has been quite eventful to say the least. From the weather affected fist stages, the implosion of Remco Evenepoel and the 'Jumbo-Visma affair' there has not been many dull moments. We look back at each stage with video and links to each stage report.

The 2023 Vuelta a España finished like it started with excitement. A break including Evenepoel, Ganna and Groves escaped on the streets of Madrid. The stage went to the points leader, Kaden Groves, but it was close. Sepp Kuss had no problems to cross the line in the final red jersey to win his first Grand Tour.

The final hard stage (before Madrid) was made for Remco Evenepoel, but it was Wout Poels who got the better of the Belgian at the finish line. Sepp Kuss finished with his 'teammates' Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglič for his Grand Tour win.

Alberto Dainese took the sprint stage 19 into Íscar. Everything was set for another Kaden Groves win, but he was taken out in a crash with about a kilometre from the line. Filippo Ganna tried his sprinters legs, but finished second. There was no change in the GC.

Remco Evenepoel wanted more KOM points and his third 2023 Vuelta a España stage win. Both wishes were granted. Behind the Belgian the Jumbo battle was subdued, no attacks on the red jersey of Sepp Kuss from 'friend or foe'. No change on the overall.

Another stunning day in Spain. L'Angliru is always expected to bring a bit chaotic excitement and this year didn't disappoint. Remco Evenepoel went for it early, but was caught on the climb, then it was time for the Jumbo-Visma three to fight it out: Roglič first, Vingegaard second and Kuss took third and held his red jersey.

Another day of crazy attacking on la Vuelta a España. Remco Evenepoel was in the action again, but it was the ex-World champion Rui Costa who took the stage honours. The GC riders all finished together for no overall change.

After Remco Evenepoel's collapse on Friday, the Belgian champion romped away on Stage 14 to take the stage victory by 8 minutes form the Sepp Kuss group. He also took the KOM jersey. The GC men were watching each other and finished together - No change on the overall placings.
