We should now be watching the third week of the 2020 Tour de France, but Covid put an end to that. This time last year the French Grand Tour didn't let us down with excitement and controversy in the final week. We've searched for some different views, plus some original video of the stage 19 mudslide.
Rider Interview: Matteo Trentin is one of the most consistent riders in the one-day races, with 'Top Ten' placing in most of the Classics. The 2018 European champion also has eight stage wins in the Grand Tours and a clutch of other victories. Definitely a rider worth listening to.
Worlds Photo Gallery: The final word has to go to a lady, so Heather Morrison has put together her favourite shots from the men's World championships race last Sunday. We know it was very wet and cold, you have to be made of stern stuff for this 'Photo Gallery'. The last report from the Worlds... we promise!
Aug 05, 2019 - Remco Evenepoel won the Clásica San Sebastián to be the youngest WorldTour race victor. News and video from the Basque Country, Pologne and London. Bad luck for Cofidis - Top Story. All the other news: Transfer, contract and stagieire news and rumours, European Championships, Media Figures of the Tour and Chris Froome's road to recovery video.
Stage Report: European champion, Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-Scott) soloed into Gap for the win on Tour stage 17. The Italian was part of the big early break, which took over 15 minutes on the peloton. Ten kilometres from the finish, he rode away from the group for the solo to win. Yellow jersey, Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck - Quick-Step) was safe in the peloton, no change on the overall.
Race Preview: None of the racing really counts for anything until Het Nieuwsblad - The season proper starts this Saturday. The guys who want to put a Classic on their palmarès will be well to the fore on the roads round Gent and Kuurne this weekend. Ed Hood takes his usual look at the course and riders for the Classic season openers.
Roadside in Glasgow: The 2018 European championships have been a great success for the Scottish City of Glasgow, not just the cycling, but also all the other events. Callum MacGregor took in the men's time trial during the week and its ultra close final, so he could hardly miss the road race climax of the events on the city centre circuit. The action was hot, pity about the weather!
