DMT KR1 Shoe Leads 2019 Road Line
VIDEO: The DMT road shoes line-up for 2019 is their best ever, as I saw up close at Eurobike. Their new top-level KR1, KR2, and D1 road cycling shoes feature the Italian brand’s latest shoe technology, promising better fit and comfort, lighter weights, better ventilation, all made with carbon soles and BOA lace enclosure systems.

The new for 2019 KR1 will be offered in two colors – the Fluo Orange, and this stealth black that also reflects light from sources like car headlights. The “K” stands for “knit” technology – to describe the last which uses a webbed framework to encircle the foot to more securely connect it to the shoe sole, and hence the pedal/ bike. It’s made of polyester fibers that also help pull moisture away from the foot to increasing comfort.
The KR1 upper is made of a tough poly webbed material, that more evenly distributes tension around the foot for maximum security, and intended to eliminate pinch points or hot spots that can occur on our unevenly shaped feet. Ventilation is handled by big holes in the top, and a big toe vent underneath.
The also new for 2019 KR2 features a combo of the webbed knit upper, and a tough poly exo-skeleton to wrap your foot up nice ‘n tight.
The KR2 carbon sole – they call it the “Flat” carbon sole – is a tad lighter and slightly more flexible that the stiffer “Anatomical” carbon sole on the KR1.
The D1 has been around for a while, and worn the likes of Elia Viviani to win a handful of Giro stages this year. It’s dual BOA laces and microfiber synthetic upper offer durability and comfort for a wide range of foot shapes.
