Wahoo Launches Its Most Accurate KICKR Yet
Fifth-generation smart training improves accuracy, ease of use, and ride feel
Wahoo, the leader in workout apps and connected fitness devices, is excited to reveal the newest KICKR smart trainer. The fifth-generation KICKR improves on the legendary realistic ride feel that Wahoo riders prize, and also offers riders a wide range of improvements to elevate every ride.
The new KICKR, the same smart trainer used by World Tour teams INEOS and BORA-hansgrohe, brings to market several new features. This version of the category-leading KICKR refines power accuracy to +/-1% from +/-2% by using a proprietary auto-calibration process. This gives the new KICKR unsurpassed power accuracy without the need for users to perform a spin down, saving valuable time and providing riders confidence in the accuracy of their power data.
Additionally, to create a more natural, comfortable ride feel, the new KICKR also comes equipped with the new AXIS feet. These feet allow a bike installed onto the trainer to smoothly tilt up to 5 degrees from side-to-side with each pedal stroke in a controlled, realistic motion. Like the previous KICKR, this version is nearly silent which makes riding it feel more like riding outdoors.
“With key updates that improve any indoor ride, our newest KICKR will deliver an elevated experience for all Wahooligans,” said Product Manager Tyler Harris. “Without any need to calibrate, and improved accuracy, riders can be more confident than ever in power numbers, and with the new AXIS Feet providing subtle side-to-side motion, ride feel has never been more realistic.”
Despite adding in several new features, the new KICKR will maintain the same retail price of the previous generation, $1,199.99. Wahoo also offers the only complete indoor riding ecosystem; KICKR is compatible with the KICKR CLIMB Indoor Grade Simulator, KICKR HEADWIND Smart Fan, and KICKR DESK. KICKR is also fully compatible with indoor workouts from Wahoo’s The Sufferfest virtual training app.
KICKR is Wahoo’s premium-level direct drive trainer and intended for athletes serious about indoor riding and racing. Other indoor training options from Wahoo include the KICKR BIKE smart bike ($3,499.99), KICKR CORE wheel-off trainer ($899.99), and the KICKR SNAP wheel-on trainer ($499.99).
The newest KICKR is available now from WahooFitness.com.

New road helmet debuted at the Strade Bianche
The ABUS StormChaser celebrates its WorldTour-debut with the Movistar Team at one of the most iconic races. At the Strade Bianche the new ABUS helmet was eye-catching. Not only because it’s new in the WorldTour peloton – its unique artwork drew attention. A colorful paintjob was designed exclusively to match the charity jerseys the riders of the Movistar Team wore on Tuscany’s white roads.
The StormChaser rounds up the ABUS trilogy of its high-end “Made in Italy” models. Consequently, the helmet debuted in the pro peloton on iconic Italian roads. It follows the footsteps of the successful aero helmet GameChanger and the top model AirBreaker. With the StormChaser, ABUS developed a helmet for the medium price segment, featuring the same innovative technologies as the two high-end models. Since the StormChaser is built on the same platform (same geometry and design) as the GameChanger and the AirBreaker, its fit is extremely comfortable; it is lightweight and excellently ventilated.
The StormChaser relies on the same innovative ABUS helmet technologies, which are already convincing with the two top models. The FlowStraps – flutter-free and skin friendly straps that do not need adjustment around the ear. An individual fit of the helmet is guaranteed by the Zoom-Ace, a fine adjustment system with a handy wheel. The popular AirPort is also integrated: thanks to special temple guides, glasses can be stored quickly and safely. As a unisex helmet, the StormChaser is equipped with a specially shaped slot within the adjustment system, the practical Ponytail Outlet
Colorful special edition met the white roads to support COVID-19 charity of Movistar Team
The Movistar Team wore a multi-color charity jersey choosen by its fans at the restart of the UCI WorldTour and the UCI Women’s WorldTour. The men’s and women’s team wore color-matching equipment, including the ABUS StormChaser. After the race, the Movistar Team auctioned signed pieces for charity. The benefits will go to the Spanish Red Cross and Italy’s Protezione Civile, supporting people affected by COVID-19.
The ABUS StormChaser is the entry into the ABUS performance range. The new model for the mid-price segment is available now in three sizes (S, M, L) and ten color combinations.

Introducing CFR: The Next Level at Canyon
There comes a time when striving for the next level of excellence demands a complete re-imagining of the rules. When pushing to make an even faster racing bike becomes a study in the very concept of how to build a bicycle. Canyon Factory Racing is the result of this pursuit.
Canyon CFR Di2
It is a genre-defying collaboration between engineers and athletes, making CFR bikes lighter and better than ever before. Canyon Factory Racing is the result of decades of expert engineering and intense athletic collaboration. From the molecular to the muscular, our athletes and experts have worked symbiotically to deliver a new class of racing bike – a feedback loop between man and machine that has taken years of refinement. Why did we create Canyon Factory Racing? Because being the best always demands more of us – as engineers, as athletes, and as lovers of the sport. Canyon Factory Racing is to step up to the next level: to force ourselves to go faster, be smarter, and build better. It is the pursuit of greatness, distilled into three letters.
Canyon CFR Disc EPS
The Ultimate CFR continues the success of the benchmark-setting Ultimate CF Evo Disc, the lightest production disc brake road bike. It is the first in a range of CFR road bikes that will define performance within their categories. A celebrated climber’s bike with all-round, Grand Tour-winning pedigree, the Ultimate CFR is all about delivering unparalleled stiffness-to- weight for absolute efficiency. Lightness is essential to these builds, but so is durability, which is why all 675 g frames and 285 g forks exceed our rigorous testing standards. This incredible weight is achieved by applying quality ultra-high modulus pitch-based carbon fibres rarely seen in the industry. The material is so special, we initially had to be granted exclusive permission by the Japanese Ministry of Defence just to gain access to it. In order to create a structure that is strong and durable, as well as light, the ultra-high modulus fibres are blended with various other modulus and high-tensile fibres to create the complete all-round package. This layup is then applied to moulds with clinical precision, ensuring minimal fibre overlap to save material and thus precious grams.
All of this adds up not only to pinnacle climbing performance, but a frameset with the same smooth ride, pinpoint handling and watt-saving aero profiles that have made the Ultimate one of the most successful race bikes of its generation. Expect to see the Ultimate CFR raced at the highest level by some of the world’s best climbers, among them Kasia Niewiadoma of CANYON//SRAM Racing, and Movistar’s Enric Mas.
The Ultimate CFR is available in two complete builds and one frameset, and goes on sale at canyon.com on 11th August. With a complete Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and 50 mm deep-section DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT wheels, the Ultimate CFR Disc Di2 weighs in at a UCI-illegal 6.5 kg, making it the envy of all racers. For climbing purists, we created the superlight Ultimate CFR Disc EPS, which features a Campagnolo Super Record EPS groupset and DT Swiss PRC 1100 25Y Anniversary wheels to bring the scales down to a featherweight 6.2 kg. Framesets come complete with our 270 g CP0020 Cockpit and exclusive Schmolke 1K carbon seatposts, making them a blank canvas for that dream build starting from 1.5 kg.
KOO Eyewear and Trek-Segafredo Continue Exclusive WorldTour Partnership for a Further Two Years
The contract renewal will see Trek-Segafredo riders continue to train and race in KOO’s signature eyewear, including the likes of multi-Grand Tour winning Vincenzo Nibali, 2019 World Road Race Champion Mads Pedersen, former UCI World Champion Lizzie Deignan and the multi-talented Letizia Paternoster.
KOO, the high-performance sports eyewear brand, is delighted to announce the continuation of its partnership with WorldTour men’s and women’s Trek-Segafredo teams for a further two seasons until 2022, as both teams get set for the return of the racing calendar to finish off the 2020 season.
A momentous start to the year began with elation for both the men’s and women’s teams; as Richie Porte and Ruth Winder sealed respective GC wins at the Santos Tour Down Under in January, Matteo Moschetti stormed to double race victory at Challenge Mallorca and Jasper Stuyven was crowned champion of the 2020 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in March, resulting in the biggest achievement of the year so far for Trek Segafredo. However, the KOO-sponsored riders were then forced to halt their training and racing schedules at the beginning of the pandemic.
Following months of uncertainty and virtual riding to help sustain momentum, both the men’s and women’s teams are now training hard for their respective returns to road racing, and the coveted Italian eyewear team sponsor, KOO, is excited to see their WorldTour team poised and ready to resume the 2020 road racing season.
While the men’s team – including 2019 World Road Race Champion Mads Pedersen – is set to make its return to the road with the Vuelta a Burgos on 28 July, the women’s team is gearing up for three one-day races in Northern Spain (Emakumeen Nafarroaka Klasikoa on 23 July, Clásica Navarra de féminas on 24 July and Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria on 26 July). Both teams will then look ahead to the first key race of the redefined UCI calendar; the Italian classic Strade Bianche on 1 August.
All riders will be wearing firm KOO Eyewear favorites – the cleverly designed, ventilation-focused KOO Open Cube and the anti-reflective KOO Orion, featuring gradient color technology boosted by Zeiss lenses – in addition to the latest eagerly anticipated KOO innovations, which have been carefully developed in close collaboration with Team Trek-Segafredo riders.
Luca Guercilena, Trek-Segafredo General Manager, said: “Since the beginning, we have created a very solid exclusive relationship of collaboration with KOO. We have found an enthusiastic technical partner who, although young in the world of sports eyewear, has provided a high performance and top quality product, providing the utmost attention to our needs and suggestions. We are very happy to wear KOO for two more seasons and to provide our experience for the growth of the brand.”
Ylenia Battistello, KOO Sales and Marketing Director, said: “Following some fantastic achievements for Trek-Segafredo early in the 2020 season, we are excited to continue our partnership with such an experienced and accomplished set of riders – particularly when it comes to KOO’s product innovation. Working closely behind the scenes with both Trek-Segafredo teams has enabled us to harness their experience for continual product testing, feedback and refinement – all of which play a significant part in KOO’s development and ultimate product quality. This year, we have been working together on something new and we cannot wait to announce the product of our collaborative efforts.”
Continental Bicycle Tires is headline sponsor of gravel challenge Orbit360
Continental Bicycle Tires is the headline sponsor of Germany’s first gravel challenge Orbit360. It is the first time the global market leader in road tires has supported an event in the fast-growing bike segment.
A new kind of race
The challenge series comprises 16 routes, one for each state in Germany. Orbit360 aims to bring together a community of like-minded riders remotely, as entrants have the freedom to complete each route whenever they want and start from any point on the course. Participants will be able to enjoy the feeling of sharing an experience together even when mass-participation racing is not currently taking place.
Entrants can simply upload their completed ride, which must be finished by the series end on 6th September, to komoot and tag Orbit360 for a place in the official Orbit360 ranking – and for the chance to be crowned 2020 ‘Master of Orbit.’ Cyclists began logging their completed courses at the series start on 4th July.
With routes created by the gravel community for its riders, Orbit360 participants will experience an exciting variety of terrains and beautiful scenery, from forests to city centers, alongside mountains and rivers. The 16 different rides range in distance from 212km to 323km, and elevation gain between 730hm to 4,580hm.
A new breed of tire
Some participants will no doubt be mastering the Orbit360 routes on Continental’s very own gravel TERRA tires, Trail and Speed. Designed and handmade in Korbach, these tires were launched last year, both ‘TR’ tubeless ready and featuring the Black Chili compound technology that is renowned across its road and MTB offering.
TERRA Trail is for riders wanting versatility and adventure, ideal for wet and more challenging conditions to give riders complete confidence on their bike. TERRA Speed is for those seeking comfort, speed and performance, a great companion of riders on dusty and loose terrain.
Oliver Anhuth, Continental’s Global Head of Marketing Bicycle Tires, said: “We thought the idea behind the creation of Orbit360 was a genius concept. It enables riders to participate in an inspiring racing experience, accessible regardless of their location and ability, which is what we strive to do here through creating our tires at Continental. It’s exciting for us, as a brand making premium products by hand in Germany, to be supporting the country’s first Gravel challenge.”
