PEZ Holiday Gift Guide #6 is a diverse bag of suggestions. From Primal casual wear to complete bikes by Detroit and Canyon. In between we have Shoes from Bont and Sidi, glasses from Smith, Clement tires, custom cycling jerseys from Champion System, titanium key clip by Spurcycle, Capo wind jacket, wheels by Boyd, plus a torque wrench and valve silencers from Effetto Mariposa. Something for everybody.

The Hodges Shirt ($70) is active wear for the fashion forward. Constructed with technical moisture wicking fabric with 4-way stretch and a silicone tail gripper, this shirt is ideal for any performance physical activity from running to cycling. Full sublimation with a bold microdot camo design carries this shirt from the realm of active into fashion.

Wear them rolled up or down, the Ogunde Cargo Pants ($150) expertly blend fashion and commuter friendly features. A tapered ankle zipper keeps your cuff out of your chain, while expandable cargo pockets allow easy, yet secure, access while pedaling. Sublimated on the interior of the leg with a fashionable camo print, the Ogunde pants are sure to turn heads, or ankles.

Cortello is a completely new Detroit Bikes model for 2017, and our first to diverge from the pure urban bike category. In a world of “fitness bikes” made overseas from bloated hydroformed aluminum frames and hung with mountain bike components, Cortello stands alone with its unmistakable Detroit Bikes DNA. The design is inspired by classic European race bikes from the 1970’s, with svelte, elegant tapered frame tubes that promise speed with a forgiving, resilient ride.

In line with all Detroit Bikes’ creations, Cortello remains simple, with a single chainring, but delivers a wide gear range thanks to a Shimano 11-34 8-speed cassette and trigger shifter. Hydraulic disc brakes insure maintenance-free stopping power, even in wet or icy conditions.

The centerpiece of the Cortello cockpit is a gorgeous chrome-plated custom CrMo stem, which follows the line of the frame’s top tube. American-made ODI Cush grips and a Selle Royal saddle, complete with patented Royal Gel, insure the touch points will bring a smile.

• American-made CrMo frame, cut, welded and powder coated in our Detroit factory. Accepts fenders, rear rack and kickstand.
• Shimano trigger-shifter 8-speed drivetrain, featuring a wide gear range, but without the complication and unsightliness of a front derailleur.
• Hydraulic disc brakes.
• Selle Royal saddle with Royal Gel, and American-made ODI Cush grips
• Custom chrome-plated CrMo stem and cold-forged, polished seatpost
• Sizes: S, M and L
• Color: Rally Blue or Silver

How to apply disc brake technology to the road has been a topic of heated discussion for years. Various standards have come and gone while riders have debated the positive and negative impacts of disc brakes on road bikes and on road cycling in general.

Canyon first explored the potential of road disc technology in 2006 with Projekt 6.8, a concept study with a full hydraulic braking system that tipped the scales bang on the UCI’s 6.8 kg minimum weight limit. Ten years on, we have reached a crossroads. Technology has caught up. We are no longer just dealing with concepts. Back in June 2016, we launched the Endurace CF SLX, the first model that enabled riders to experience our interpretation of how a disc brake road bike should perform.

Now, we can announce the expansion of our disc technology across the entire Canyon road range. All-new Aeroad CF SLX, Ultimate CF SLX, Ultimate CF SL, Endurace CF SLX and Endurace CF SL Disc models offer unparalleled Canyon riding performance enhanced by levels of control only disc brakes can provide.

Creating a complete range of disc-equipped road bikes was not simply a question of adapting our existing rim brake platforms. All models have been re-engineered from the ground up and thoroughly tested by our pro riders and engineers so that they offer the same ride and handling performance Canyon road bikes are known for.
