Vuelta Announces The Teams For This Years Race

Well, now that French tour thing is finished we can get on with some proper racing! The Vuelta a Espaсa starts on the 6th of September in the northern Town of Gijуn. The organizers, Unipublic have been looking after the race for 25 years and they have announced the teams for this the 58th edition.

After a request by the teams association, so that all 7 Spanish teams could compete in this year’s race, 22 teams (198 riders) will take the start line instead of the planned 20. The 14 top teams on the UCI list are automatic selections, and they are:

Fassa Bortolo
US Postal-Berry Floor
Team Bianchi
Cofidis
ONCE-Eroski
ibanesto.com
Rabobank
CSC
Telekom
Kelme-Costa Blanca
Alessio
Vini Caldirola
Saeco
Lampre.

In compliance with UCI regulations and invited by the oranizers, the following teams will also start:

Euskaltel
Relax
Paternina
Labarca 2
Phonak
Milaneza
Quick Step
Domina Vacanza.

Many other teams wanted to ride, but there was’nt enough room for them all. Teams are still to announce their line up’s, but as usual it’ll be a cracker!
