World’s: Canadian Elite Teams Announced

The host country is one of the first to announce riders selected to join the Elite Men’s & Women’s title fray on October 12 in Hamilton. As host country, Canada is allowed a higher ranking, receiving 4 starters for each event. Here’s what we know so far…

Men Road
-Mike Barry {USPS} – currently riding Vuelta with stage finishes in top 20 and a top 10
-Dominique Perras – current Canadian road champ at Hamilton (1st Canadian rider )
-Mark Walters {Saturn}- 2nd Canadian and 4th overall at Canadian road champs in Hamilton, won USPro champs in 2002.
-Eric Wohlberg {Saturn}- Canadian TT champ at Hamilton and perennial Canadian hardman

Men Chrono
-Eric Wohlberg
-Roland Green

Women Road
-Sue Palmer-Komar – Hamilton native and 2nd in women’s Fleche Wallonne 2003, 3rd Canadian road championships in Hamilton

-Lyne Bessette {Saturn} – 1st Canadian TT champs & 2ND Canadian road champs in Hamilton, leading Canadian on UCI points, just took 1st prologue, 5th in todays first stage Grand Prix feminine du Canada coming back from a fractured collar bone

-Genvieve Jeanson {Rona} – 1st Montreal world cup, 1st Canadian road champs, 2nd tt champs in Hamilton, 1st Mount Washington hill climb with 2nd fastest overall time including men, recently won prologue and all three stages of Green Mountain Stage race.
